Happy Mother's Day

I hope all of the Mother's out there had a Happy Mother's day. I'm pretty sure that Micca and my Mom would like to have me home but I will be there next year to celebrate.

Today was fairly quiet except for some unkown reason the contractor that maintains our facilities decides Sunday morning is a great time to change out our wooden steps for another set of wooden steps that have to be screwed into our little trailers and cut to size. Of all days they decide they want to do this.

Now they hadn't quite reached my trailer but I had heard something going on when Bob my next door neighbot busts out of his trailer and yells you have got to be kidding me. He wasn;t quite that nice. It was very obvious that he had been very much asleep. Keep in mind we have been pretty busy around here lately so sleep is in short supply. Now this is obviously a significant emotional event for Bob. It's made even funnier by the fact that Bob's thinning hair is standing straight up and he's got his blanket in his hand and stomps off saying he is going to go to sleep in our playhouse which is a little rec room we have set up.

In the mail I got today I also got a lot of letters from Ashtyn's class it was very sweet and I will be replying to them here as soon as I can.

Now this next story happened the other day. I was finishing up my run hatinf life when a pretty good song came on my IPOD by AC/DC you shook me all night long. Then as I'm starting to pick it up just a tad two blackhawk helicopters coming trucking in, it was a very cool pick me up and made me feel proud.

Anonymous said...: Hi Brent: I'm sure you are right - Your mom and Micca would love to have you home this Mother's Day. Next year at this time will be a very special Mother's Day for them. We spent the afternoon with Rick's family. The girls are growing up fast. And little Jake will be starting preschool next year. Yesterday was Race for the Cure in Peoria. We were blessed with a beautiful morning. Over 20,000 participants and quite a site to see. J did the 5K/ D was a spectator. The whole town had special activities afterwards.
Very cool and windy today --the yard is full of stuff today. Rick lost one of his pear trees - right on top of his newly planted garden. That's great that Ashtyn's class has written to you -- how special! They only have 2 weeks left in this school year and lots of activities left to cram in. We enjoy your blog-thanks for keeping in touch with all of us this way. Your pictures are neat too. The kids gave me a digital pocket viewer that will hold 60 pix so I can carry pix of the grandkids without taking up space in my purse. Now I just have to figure out how to transfer the photos onto it. Remember the generation gap .. we are learning to cope in this high tech world. It is amazing what you are doing thru technology. For my Awesome Wife on Mother's day

On Mother’s Day…

I think of the person that is closest to me and how I couldn’t have picked a better roll model for Drake and Ashtyn. I am so lucky to have such a spectacular woman in my life, and our kids don’t realize it, but they have the best Mom in the world.

I know I have said it before but you are everything to me. My best friend, my, my wife (of course duh), and most important to everyone else around us a fantastic Mother.

The things that you do that you don’t even realize set such a great example for our children. It’s the little things that matter and our kids will be so much better for it. Many times I know you feel like you are being too hard but even then you are setting an example, and our kids will thank you for it.

I am so proud of you. I know you think I am bias, but I understand how hard it is for you to operate in your profession and the pressures you face. Add in your motherly duties and I understand how easy it could be to get overwhelmed by events. Your attitude is so awesome. You constantly inspire me to be a better person just to keep up with you. My job and our current circumstances make your job even harder. Being a mother can be tough enough, add in a full time job that puts your life on the line, and then toss in being the spouse of a deployed service member….. you my dear are a “gem” as my Dad would say.

You make me so happy, and by making me happy I can’t help but want to make you the happiest woman on this earth. You truly bring out the best in me and I am sure our children are grateful for that. You have made me a better Dad because you are such an awesome Mother.

Thoughtful…. Is the word I use most when describing you to others. I continue to be amazed by you. Many people think about doing things but you actually think up something and follow through. You are always planning activities to bring our family closer together. Now I know you may give the credit to other people or websites but it is you that is always seeking out ways to bring us closer together. You are the hub of a wagon wheel that we call our family.

My darling wife you never give yourself enough credit and on this day I want you to know how much I appreciate what you do for our family. Mother is just a word and when I look at you and what you do, I now know what the meaning of that word is.
